Reqio has two kinds of outgoing messages: automatic per-request notifications (sent when a request status changes) and a manually triggered Announce that goes to every user on the project at once.
Per-request notifications
When you change a request's status, Reqio automatically notifies the people watching that request. You do not need to do anything extra.
- Moving a Request or Error to In progress sends a "we are working on it" notification to subscribers.
- Moving any request to Completed sends a completion notification. The text changes depending on whether you chose Shipped or Coming in the next update.
Before each notification is sent, you can edit the message text. After you confirm, a 5-second countdown appears. Click Undo during that window and nothing is sent. Once the countdown finishes, the notification goes out.
Notifications appear in the widget for all subscribers. Users with a stored email address also receive an email.
Announce
Announce sends a free-text message to every person who has ever interacted with your project's widget, regardless of which requests they submitted or voted on.
Use it to share release notes, downtime alerts, or anything worth telling your whole user base at once.
Sending an Announce
You can open the Announce composer from two places:
- The Announce button in the project header.
- The Announce button in the Chat workspace toolbar.
Both open the same composer. Write your message, review it, and confirm. The same 5-second undo window applies.
You can send up to 3 Announces per day.
Staleness
An unread Announce disappears from a user's widget notification feed after 24 hours. If a user has already read it, it stays visible in their history.
Per-request notifications (status changes, replies) do not expire.
Email replies
When Reqio sends a status-change or reply email to a user who has an email address on file, the email includes a reply address specific to that conversation thread.
If the user replies from their email client, their reply lands back in the conversation in your dashboard Chat inbox, exactly as if they had replied from inside the widget. The thread flips to Needs reply in your inbox so you do not miss it.
Project-wide Announces are sent as newsletter-style messages and do not support email reply.
Postal address requirement
To send emails to your users, your project's email settings must include a valid postal address. This is a legal requirement for commercial email under laws like CAN-SPAM. Configure it at Settings → Email. Without it, email delivery is disabled even if you have email configured.
Who receives notifications
- Per-request notifications go to users who submitted or upvoted the specific request, provided they have a stored email address.
- Announce goes to every widget user on the project who has a stored email address or an active widget session.
Users who have unsubscribed from a project's emails are excluded from all sends.
